Cayuse Pass in Mount Rainier National Park opened to the public today at noon.

Cayuse Pass Opens

Mount Rainier Superintendent Dave Uberuaga advises that Cayuse Pass in
Mount Rainier National Park opened to the public today at noon.  This
annual opening allows public travel from U.S Highway 12 at the southeastern
park boundary to State Routes 123 and 410 north to the
Greenwater/Enumclaw/Seattle areas.

Washington State Department of Transportation crews have completed the
annual removal of the winter’s snow accumulation from the roadways, removed
downed trees, rock removal, ditch cleaning and other repairs in preparation
for the opening today. The pass closed for the season on November 8.

Deep snow remains along the roads and visitors are advised to drive with
caution as spring storms can rapidly change conditions.

Chinook Pass remains closed.
